Book

Therapy is a long-term process with a healthcare professional in which a client works through past issues, with the hope of resolution, in order to move forward. As a Certified Life Coach, my job is to accept my client's current state and move forward from that point. At Beyond Your Limits, we will learn from where you were, recognize where you are and focus on where you want to be.

My tweens, teens and young adults range from age 12 to 27. I don't think my parents prefer me to answer. ;-)

At Beyond Your Limits, we specialize in coaching Teens and their parents, helping them connect on a deeper level, with themselves and with the people in their lives. Research has shown that teens benefit from one-on-one time with a trusted adult who will listen without judgement and help them figure out what they want most, both in the present and in the future. This will be achieved by reflecting on their decisions, making changes when necessary and creating, and executing, a strategy to allow for a happy, fulfilled young adult to emerge.

Teens:

  • Improving time management, problem solving skills. and academic achievements
  • Major decisions (ie. choosing the right college for me)
  • Goal setting (turning dreams into goals)
  • Improving family relationships (siblings, parents, grandparents)
  • Improving extracurricular activities/sports
  • Struggling with connection
  • Dissolving toxic relationships
  • Crisis coaching (recent move, death, separation/divorce)
  • Finding your gifts and talents and unlocking your potential
  • Developing confidence and finding internal motivation
  • Overcoming worry, stress and anxiety and developing resilience
  • Exploring identity and a sense of belonging
  • Understanding the difference between how you think about yourself and how people think about you

Parents:

  • Connecting with your teen through discovery
  • Crisis coaching (recent move, death, separation/divorce)
  • Shifting criticism into connecting
  • Transition (new job, new relationship, new home)
  • How teens can affect our other relationships (partner, parents and extended family, other children)
  • Loving by leaning in
  • Positive parenting and stress management
  • Effective rules and boundaries
  • Being a leader in the household
  • Time management

Are you a teen, or the parent of a teen, who is ready to accept your past and focus on your present and your future? Celebrate your successes and learn from your mistakes? Are you ready to dig deep? Then you are ready for BYL Coaching, and I can't wait to get started!

You! Our sessions will be focused on your individual interests, challenges and goals. I will ask you to come prepared with a specific topic and the desired take away you would like to achieve, which could be as simple as a solution or as complex as defining the next steps toward your ultimate goal. If you or your tween/teen are having a hard time determining your topic or goals, I will provide you with a few questions to help you dig a little deeper.

Likewise, in our Parent affinity Groups, our parents determine our subject matter, although I will also suggest topics based on individual discovery sessions.

After our Discovery Session, we will discuss our meeting location. Most of my clients prefer to meet via phone but some prefer to meet virtually, using Zoom, Google Meet or Facetime. Some of my clients like to meet in person, at times choosing to meet at a coffee shop, on a hike or otherwise.

As a Beyond Your Limits client, I will be available to you via text and email as well as phone, although I may suggest that a topic is better discussed in a session. I will also be in touch between sessions, keeping you accountable to established goals or giving you exercises to help get you closer to your goals. Additionally, you will receive a journal to write daily observations, new obstacles, new goals and more.

You should seek help from a therapist, counselor, or psychologist if your child is depressed, threatening harm to himself or others, or showing signs of any mental health crisis. If, on the other hand, you feel your tween or teen is lacking direction, motivation, or confidence, scheduling a Discovery Session would be a great idea. Coaching is not Therapy but sometimes Coaching is truly what your child needs. If you are still on the fence, let's have a Discovery Session for Parents and I will let you know if working together makes sense, or if I feel he is better served elsewhere.

I am an International Coach Federation (ICF) approved Certified Life Coach and the founder of Beyond Your Limits Coaching. I am also a homemaker, responsible for making the business of a busy home look simple. But, as we all know, it is never simple, especially when balancing the needs of a husband, three overscheduled teens, and a FOMO-suffering dog. Kidding aside, I have always kept systems in place, from the day our first child was born, allowing us to create an environment in which our kids are able to flourish as sharing, caring and responsible future adults. I will share all of my systems with you, where appropriate, but only as a catalyst to create your own healthy home. I am a graduate of Penn State with a B.A. in Journalism, an entrepreneur, and a consummate volunteer.

Please Fill Out our Future BYL Blog and Podcast Questionnaire

Thank you for taking the time to answer this brief Beyond Your Limits Questionnaire for Teens, College Students and Parents. Please answer all questions that are applicable to you (i.e. teenager and high school senior). It will help me develop future content for the BYL Blog and, hopefully, Podcast. I will not share your name or other information, if provided.
